Remember back in September when I said my “chase” may be going on hiatus for a little bit because I was expecting a baby? Well, like any man of integrity, I wasn’t lying. On Tuesday, November 15, 2011, my wife and I welcomed our boy John into the world.
Everyone is doing great right now, and I’m just beside myself with joy. We brought him home from the hospital Thursday night, so naturally updating Chasing Amazing is not on the top of my to-do list. Once I get back into the swing of things, I would like to continue the “stand-up and cheer” series, as I really like how Tuesday morning’s post worked out and have some fun Spidey moments to capture. I also need to finish up some posts on the remaining Amazing Spider-Man Spider Island tie-ins, though I’d like to send a special shout-out to Marvel for making that a little more difficult by sending me issue #671 and then earlier this week #673, skipping over #672 completely. So while I wait for their subscription services department to get their act together, you’ll have to wait as well, though I might jump a head if the wait is excruciatingly long and do a little write-up on the new Avenging Spider-Man series, which I thought was great fun, and an awesome throwback to Marvel Team-Up.
But in the meantime, I’m going to contend with some irregular sleeping hours and trying to learn how to take care of a little human life. My wife already is a pro, but I still have some learning to do (I sorta, kinda changed my first diaper last night). Someone had asked me recently on Twitter if I was planning on reading any comic books to him, and while I’m sure that’s in the cards, I thought I’d also show you what I picked up for him in the hospital gift shop before leaving on Thursday. Yes, I’m nothing but persistent.
Hey, congrats on the new arrival. Believe me, you’ll be a pro at changing diapers before you know it. I’ve got 2 kids, but before the first one came I had zero experience with babies. I’m also chasing a complete run of ASM. Just need issues 1, 2, and 5. Hope to finish it out soon if I can find some decent lower grade copies at a good price. Good luck!
Congrats! Welcome home baby John! 🙂
First of all, congrats on the new arrival. I wish you best of luck.
Second, this is the first time I’ve read your blog, and I find it quite interesting. I can very much identify with your quest to collect every issue of Amazing Spider-Man. It is a subject near and dear to me, as I myself accomplished that very feat a few years ago. In fact, over the years, I’ve managed to collect every issue of every Spider-Man comic, pretty much ever (Peter Parker the Spec. Spider-Man, Web Of Spider-Man, Marvel Team-Up, Sensational Spider-Man, Spider-Man, etc. etc.).
Trust me, it’s not an easy thing to accomplish, but it looks like you’re almost home. That #1 and #3 are going to be pretty tough to get ahold of at a decent price, but with things like Ebay and such, you might be able to pull it off.
Now that I’ve found you, I’m looking forward to seeing if you can actually do it. Again good luck with everything. Peace!
