The latest installment of my ongoing column at Comics Should Be Good that focuses on comics from the 1990s with gimmick covers (Gimmick or Good?) takes a look at the “Heroes Reborn” reboot of Marvel’s first family, Fantastic Four, by Jim Lee and Brandon Choi. In 1996, Marvel famously killed off some of its most famous characters, only to reboot these series with brand new origins (though it later turned out all of these series took place in a “pocket universe”). In addition to the hard reboot, all of the #1 issues of these series had variant covered editions signed by the creators.
