The fifth installment of my ongoing series about the Walking Dead comic book series has been posted on the Sequential Research & Literacy Organization's home page (aka sequart.org). In this series, which runs every other Friday on Sequart, I look at “garden and wilderness” themes in Kirkman’s wildly popular comic book series – i.e. how the characters’ desires for a safe “paradise” from the post-apocalyptic zombie-infested wilderness is often tripped up by human nature’s frailties. Today’s post looks at issues #25-36, when the evil Governor and his community of Woodbury is introduced for the first time with bloody consequences for Rick Grimes and his gang of survivors.
